VIDEO: SELANNE ACADEMY – THE NEXT GENERATION

Selanne Academy’s third camp was held recently at the Metro Areena in Espoo, Finland, with Finland’s under-16 team top forwards as participants. As usual, the focus was on goal scoring.

“It was a great event, and the players were excited to spend four days working only on goal scoring. I think they got in more repetitions here than in their team practices during a whole season,” said Teemu Selanne.

The Selanne Academy opened its doors in August 2016 with the under-16 Team Finland forwards, then born in 2001. This year’s class consisted of players born in 2002.

“Last year’s guys liked the camp so much that we held another one for them in June and the plan is to have these players back here next summer as well,” Teemu says.

The Selanne Academy has partnered with the Finnish Ice Hockey Association and their timing is perfect as the federation has also made goal scoring a priority area in 2017-18.
